The Campbell County Camels scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They put the hurt on Thunder Basin with a sharp 71-47 win. Campbell County has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matchups by 23 points or more this season.
Campbell County got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Cami Curtis out in front who scored 17 points along with five rebounds. Curtis continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Lauren Kuhbacher, who scored 13 points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Thunder Basin lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Kambel Cox, who scored 15 points along with three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Reece Mcgrath, who scored 12 points.
The win (which was Campbell County's third in a row) raised their record to 9-5. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.0 points per game. As for Thunder Basin, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost six of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-8 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Campbell County will face off against South at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. South is coming into the game on a five-game losing streak. Thunder Basin will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Laramie at 6:00 p.m. on February 2nd. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Wyoming (Laramie is ranked 15th, while Thunder Basin is ranked 24th).
