Wasatch Academy walked away with a 77-64 victory over Varsity Opponent on Saturday. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Wasatch Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Fischer Brown, who scored 19 points. The matchup was Brown's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Taj Degourville, who scored 17 points along with 6 rebounds.
Wasatch Academy is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season. As for Varsity Opponent, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost 20 of their last 26 contests, which is still a better percentage than their 71-302-3 record this season.
Wasatch Academy's road trip will continue as they head out to face Layton Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on December 8th. Layton Christian Academy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Utah Rankings (they are ranked 47th, while Wasatch Academy is ranked fifth). As for Varsity Opponent, they will be playing at home against Smoky Valley Home Educators at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
