Palmer has been on the road for two straight, but on Thursday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Bruce Trojans at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
Palmer suffered their biggest defeat since November 7, 2023 on January 9th. They were dealt a 57-8 loss at the hands of Calhoun City. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Palmer has scored all season.
Bruce was handed a 21-point defeat in their previous outing, but they didn't let that bad energy affect their game against Water Valley on Wednesday. Bruce came out on top in a nail-biter against Water Valley and snuck past 52-49. The victory was just what Bruce needed coming off of a 62-41 defeat in their prior matchup.
Laken Corbitt and A'toria Knox were among the main playmakers for Bruce as the former scored 20 points along with nine rebounds and four blocks and the latter scored 20 points along with eight rebounds and seven steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Corbitt has scored at least a third of Bruce's points.
Palmer dropped their record down to 3-11 with that defeat, which was their eighth straight on the road. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 16.4 points per game. As for Bruce, their victory bumped their record up to 7-10.
Palmer strolled past Bruce in their previous matchup back in February of 2021 by a score of 53-35. Will Palmer repeat their success, or does Bruce have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
