After two games on the road, Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Southwest is heading back home. They will take on The Sharyland Rattlers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Southwest fell victim to Roma's stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They took a serious blow against the Gladiators, falling 62-0. While losing is never fun, Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Southwest can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 1084th, while Roma is ranked 474th).
Meanwhile, Sharyland's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 42-7 loss at the hands of Pioneer. Sharyland was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 21-0.
Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Southwest's defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 1-8. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 11.7 points per game. As for Sharyland, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season.
Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Southwest took a serious blow against Sharyland in their previous meeting back in November of 2022, falling 53-0. Thankfully for Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Southwest, Alan Guerrero (who rushed for 111 yards and three touchdowns on only 14 carries) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
