The Ringgold Redskins will venture away from home to face off against the Plain Dealing Lions at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Ringgold lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Jonesboro-Hodge, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Friday's matchup. The Redskins were the clear victors by a 17-2 margin over the Tigers on Friday. Considering the Redskins have won seven games by more than nine runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Plain Dealing). They put the hurt on Arcadia with a sharp 20-13 win on Friday. The Lions haven't had any issues with the Hornets recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
Max Rodrigues made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over three innings while giving up three earned (and five unearned) runs off five hits. Rodrigues was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Jerry Harris was incredible, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with five runs, two stolen bases, and one double. He has become a key player for Plain Dealing: the team is 4-2 when he posts at least two runs, but 3-8-1 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Cade DeMoss, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.
Ringgold's win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 8-9. As for Plain Dealing, their record now sits at 7-10-1.
Ringgold got the 'W' when the teams last played back in April of 2025 against Plain Dealing by a conclusive 15-8 score. Will the Redskins repeat their success, or do the Lions have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
