Not much got past Audrey Gildea, who gave up just a hit and racked up ten Ks to keep Seton off the board.
At the plate, Kat Zielinski and Katie Iams did most of the damage at the plate: Zielinski went 1-for-2 with three stolen bases and one run, while Iams got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most stolen bases Zielinski has posted since back in April of 2024. Grace Pitzer was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base.
St. Ursula Academy's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-2. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.7 runs over those games. As for Mount Notre Dame, their record is now 10-4.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. St. Ursula Academy has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 11.5 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Mount Notre Dame struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.2 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
St. Ursula Academy might still be hurting after the 12-1 defeat they got from Mount Notre Dame in their previous meeting two weeks ago. Can the Bulldogs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
