Greenwood is 2-8 against Halifax since May of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. Greenwood will host Halifax at 4:30 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Greenwood lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Line Mountain, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Wednesday's contest. The Wildcats blew past the Eagles 16-5 on Wednesday. The Wildcats' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Greenwood got a great performance from Jacob Anderson as he didn't allow a single earned run over 6.2 innings pitched.
On the hitting side, A.J. Adlon was a standout: he got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Michael Hoy, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Halifax entered their tilt with Upper Dauphin Area on Wednesday with eight consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with nine. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-5 victory over the Trojans. Seven seems to be a good number for the Wildcats as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.
Cohen Bechtel was incredible, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run and two RBI. That home run was his first of the season. Dayton Bittner was another key player, going 1-for-2 with three stolen bases and two runs.
Halifax pushed their record up to 9-1 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Greenwood, the victory snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 3-8 record.
Greenwood suffered a grim 11-0 defeat to Halifax when the teams last played back in March. Will Greenwood have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
