Ridgeline is 1-6 against Spanish Fork since May of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Riverhawks will face off against the Dons at 3:30 p.m. Ridgeline is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.5 runs per game this season.
Ridgeline is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Utah's top teams: West Field, who was ranked ninth at the time (Ridgeline was ranked 15th). The Riverhawks came out on top in a nail-biter against the Longhorns on Saturday, sneaking past 9-8. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Riverhawks.
Anne Wallace was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted over her last 11 matchups. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Hess, who scored two runs while going 3-for-3.
Meanwhile, Spanish Fork came tearing into Saturday's game with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They never let the Spartans get on the board and left with a 1-0 win.
Spanish Fork's victory was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Brinklee Zeeman, who went 1-for-2 with one double. That double was Zeeman's first of the season.
Spanish Fork hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in five consecutive contests.
Ridgeline's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-8. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.7 runs over those games. As for Spanish Fork, they now have a winning record of 9-8.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Monday. Ridgeline hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 1.1 home runs per game. However, it's not like Spanish Fork struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.7 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Ridgeline couldn't quite finish off Spanish Fork in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 and fell 5-3. Can the Riverhawks avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
