It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but the Arvada West Wildcats ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They walked away with a 56-46 victory over Brighton. The team accrued 38 points in the first half and coasted on those for the win.
Arvada West's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but James Hadzic led the charge by dropping a double-double on 18 points and 12 rebounds. Jordan Stremel was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds.
Several Bulldogs players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Austin Sickler, who scored 14 points along with five assists and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Vance Martinez, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds.
Arvada West has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. As for Brighton, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-7.
Arvada West will head out on the road to square off against Chatfield at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Chatfield has struggled recently with four defeats in a row, while Arvada West will arrive with four straight victories. As for Brighton, they the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Fossil Ridge at 7:00 p.m. on January 9th. Fossil Ridge presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Brighton in Colorado (Fossil Ridge is ranked 29th, while Brighton is ranked 228th).
