The Lakeland Christian Vikings stacked a seventh blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Thursday. They were the clear victor by a 62-37 margin over Ridgeview Global Studies Academy. Lakeland Christian's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Lakeland Christian found their leader in underclassman Issa Simpson, who scored 19 points along with seven steals and six rebounds. That's the first time this season that Simpson scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Sarah Bennett, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds.
Despite the loss, Ridgeview Global Studies Academy had strong showings from Chelsse Jean-Giles, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds and five blocks, and Stephanie Morales, who scored 23 points. That's the first time this season that Jean-Giles pulled down eight or more rebounds.
The victory makes it two in a row for Lakeland Christian and bumps their season record up to 8-3. As for Ridgeview Global Studies Academy, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 4-6.
