The Pollok Central Bulldogs waltzed into their matchup Friday with four straight wins but they left with five. The stars were shining brightly for them in a 58-44 win over Huntington. Given Pollok Central's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 357th, while Huntington is ranked 1127th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Leading Pollok Central to victory were Darrius Sherman and Wyatt Graham. Sherman scored 18 points along with five rebounds, while Graham scored 19 points along with five assists and five rebounds. That's the first time this season that Sherman scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Jake Matthews, who scored eight points along with five steals.
Pollok Central is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season. As for Huntington, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-12.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pollok Central will take on Diboll at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Huntington will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Hemphill at 7:30 p.m. on December 19th.
