Meridian had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 16.8 points) and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. They came out on top against the Lakewood Cougars by a score of 50-39. Given the Trojans' advantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked 47th, while the Cougars are ranked 168th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Lakewood lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Karly Stewart, who went 5 for 10 on her way to 13 points and three steals. Maryjo Morales was another key player, putting up six points.

Meridian's win bumped their record up to 7-1. As for Lakewood, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-5.

Meridian didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 72-40 loss against Burlington-Edison on the 28th. As for Lakewood, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 66-40 defeat against Bellevue Christian on the 28th.
