5A Region IV District 25 recap November 5, 2013
Judson was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after defeating Canyon. The Rockets came in at 24 in the state poll after placing at number 34 last week.
Smithson Valley extended the longest winning streak in 5A Region IV District 25 this week by beating New Braunfels, 52-14. This was the team's ninth consecutive win.
TUCKER SMITH provided a threat through the air and on the ground as San Marcos beat Wagner. He completed 12 passes for 183 yards and 1 touchdown and also ran for 42 yards. SMITH's favorite target this week was ZACH STERLING, who caught 6 passes for 71 yards.
Parker Bateman put up the best numbers in passing as the Unicorns fell to Smithson Valley. He finished with 8 completions for 89 yards and 2 touchdowns. Bateman's favorite target this week was Austin Orgeron, who caught 4 passes for 59 yards.
San Marcos' offense has been unstoppable this season and the Rattlers feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. SMITH has thrown for 1,308 yards and 8 touchdowns this season, while STERLING has 38 catches for 503 yards.
The Rattlers' offense has racked up 177 points this season, earning them the top spot in the league, while the Cougars have allowed only 140 on the year.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Canyon takes on San Marcos. At the moment, Matthew Elliott's team is in third, while the Rattlers are in fourth.
Larry Hill's team took down New Braunfels 52-14 last week, the largest margin of any game.
