The Grand Junction Central Warriors will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Durango Demons at 7:00 p.m. The timing is sure in Grand Junction Central's favor as the team sits on three straight wins at home while Durango has been banged up by six consecutive losses on the road dating back to last season.
Grand Junction Central put the finishing touches on their fourth blowout victory of the season on Tuesday. They breezed by Battle Mountain at home to the tune of 71-37. Given Grand Junction Central's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 130th, while Battle Mountain is ranked 303rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Grand Junction Central to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ryland Nostrand, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 15 rebounds. Camren Redding was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with eight assists.
Meanwhile, Durango came up short against Eagle Valley on Saturday and fell 61-50.
Grand Junction Central now has a winning record of 7-6. As for Durango, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-5.
Grand Junction Central strolled past Durango when the teams last played back in February of 2023 by a score of 49-32. Will Grand Junction Central repeat their success, or does Durango have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
