Addison Crawford made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 11 over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. She also put up a triple, which was her first of the season.
In other batting news, Central Academy let Kieryn Peters and Emma Hunt run wild. Peters scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-3, while Hunt scored two runs while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave Hunt a new career-high in doubles (two). Melanie Jones was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.
Central Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .407. They are 7-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Monroe was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 15th straight defeat. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 16-0 to Parkwood, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior.
The victory got Central Academy back to even at 8-8. As for Monroe, their loss dropped their record down to 1-15.
Monroe's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Central Academy hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .358. It's a different story for Monroe, though, as they've only averaged .096. Will they be able to contain Central Academy's hitters?
Everything went Central Academy's way against Monroe in their previous matchup back in March, as Central Academy made off with an 18-1 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cougars since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
