The East Dragons kicked off their season on the road on Wednesday and hit a couple of potholes. They had to suffer through a rough 39-7 loss at the hands of John Marshall. East lost against John Marshall in their previous head to head back in December of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 40-22 score last time.
Leading John Marshall to victory were Jayleena Orozco and Sarah Abed. Orozco scored 7 points along with 7 assists and 5 steals, while Abed scored 10 points along with 5 rebounds and 4 steals. Another player making a difference was Danielle Brown, who scored 8 points along with 7 rebounds.
East's loss dropped their record down to 0-1. As for John Marshall, their victory bumped their record up to 1-0.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. East will take on Chaney at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for John Marshall, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Our Lady of the Elms at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday.
