Ripon is 2-8 against Waupun since May of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Tigers will host the Warriors at 4:45 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Ripon took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They came out on top against Winneconne by a score of 3-1 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). The victory was some much needed relief for the Tigers as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Coy DeVries made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. He is becoming a predictor of Ripon's success: when he posts at least eight strikeouts the team is 2-1 (and 1-6 when he doesn't). DeVries was also big at the plate, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs and one double. That double marked the first that he has hit this season.
DeVries wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Shay Otto, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. That double was Otto's first of the season.
Meanwhile, Waupun entered their tilt with Mayville on Monday with six consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with seven. They were the clear victors by a 13-5 margin over the Cardinals. The Warriors might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matchups by eight runs or more this season.
Like Ripon, Waupun also got a great game from a two-way player: Landon Richter. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Richter was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two runs.
In other batting news, Logan Prall and Bryant Ferris did most of the damage at the plate: Prall went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base, while Ferris went 3-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Those three RBI gave Prall a new career-high. Landon Derksen was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Waupun was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .452. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .452 or higher in three consecutive contests.
Waupun's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-1. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for Ripon, their win bumped their record up to 3-7.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Ripon has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Waupun struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.9 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Ripon came up short against Waupun in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, falling 6-2. Can the Tigers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
