Gonzaga Prep has gone a perfect 10-0 against Shadle Park recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. Gonzaga Prep will challenge Shadle Park at 4:00 p.m. This will be Gonzaga Prep's first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
Things were looking good for Gonzaga Prep after they put the first points on the board on Thursday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They fell just short of Hanford by a score of 7-6. The loss put an end to the Bullpups' undefeated start to the season.
Gonzaga Prep got a good showing from Dylan Croall, who pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits.
At the plate, Gonzaga Prep saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Grant Yost, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Meanwhile, Shadle Park got the win against Rogers last Thursday by a conclusive 17-1. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Highlanders.
Mason Allison looked comfortable as he struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high.
On the hitting side, Drew Sanchez was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Evan Lafferty, who scored four runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.
Shadle Park always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .583. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Rogers only posted an OBP of .318.
Having lost for the first time this season, Gonzaga Prep fell to 2-1. As for Shadle Park, their win was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 2-0.
Gonzaga Prep was able to grind out a solid victory over Shadle Park in their previous matchup back in April of 2019, winning 6-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for Gonzaga Prep since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
