Basketball Recap: Carlisle Skates Past Gretna with Ease

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Carlisle). They took their matchup on Saturday with ease, bagging a 72-42 win over the Gretna Hawks. The Chiefs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six contests by 21 points or more this season.

Several Hawks players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Chinara Miller, who almost dropped a double-double on 17 points and nine rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashley Myers, who went 5 of 12 on her way to 14 points and five rebounds.

The victory (which was Carlisle's fourth in a row) raised their record to 7-3. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 31.2 points. As for Gretna, their loss dropped their record down to 7-3.

Carlisle and Gretna should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Virginia Rankings. Carlisle (ranked 54th) will meet North Cross (ranked 339th) at 5:30 p.m. on January 9, 2025. Similarly, Gretna (ranked 112th) will meet Halifax County (ranked 227th) at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
