West Jersey - Freedom recap Sept. 26, 2012
New Egypt was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from sixth to third in West Jersey - Freedom. The Warriors beat Burlington City 24-12 earlier in the week.
Maple Shade moved up to 225 from 310 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. A 35-0 win over Riverside helped the Wildcats improve their standing.
Palmyra's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Zach Berry threw for 111 yards and Caliph Wright had 35 yards receiving. On the ground Tai Belford chipped in 12 yards. Belford helped Palmyra's passing attack out by catching one ball for 30 yards.
Reggie Johnson made the biggest impact on defense this week as the Panthers lost to Florence Township Memorial. The 6-foot-4 defensive lineman forced one fumble and recorded one fumble.
Palmyra's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Panthers feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Berry has thrown for 379 yards and three touchdowns this season, while Wright has 15 catches for 309 yards. Belford leads the league in rushing with 167 yards.
