Emma Groce was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-2. Those two hits gave her a new career-high. Ella Beaver was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one triple and one run.
Forsyth Home Educators was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Greater Cabarrus S had just enough and edged out Union Preparatory 7-5 on Tuesday.
Natalie Gardner made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits. Gardner was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
In other batting news, Greater Cabarrus S let Zoe Wagner and Aydin Saavedra run wild. Wagner went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one triple, while Saavedra scored two runs and stole four bases while going 2-for-3. That triple was Wagner's first of the season. Another player making a difference was McKenzie Bruckler, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one triple.
Forsyth Home Educators' victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-3. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Greater Cabarrus S, their victory bumped their record up to 3-7.
Friday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Forsyth Home Educators has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .435.
