The Lincoln High Links will head out on the road to square off against the Lincoln Southeast Knights on Thursday. Lincoln High is coming into the contest on a five-game losing streak.
Lincoln High's 24-2 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They lost to Lincoln Northeast at home by a decisive 54-36 margin on Thursday. While losing is never fun, Lincoln High can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 215th, while Lincoln Northeast is ranked 26th).
Despite the defeat, Lincoln High had strong showings from Ayana Owens, who scored 18 points along with three steals, and Aniyah Hicks-robinson, who scored seven points along with four steals. Hicks-robinson hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games.
Meanwhile, Lincoln Southeast stacked a fourth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Tuesday. They really took it to Omaha Northwest for the full four quarters, racking up a 66-19 win on the road. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Lincoln Southeast has posted yet this season.
Lincoln High's loss was their fourth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 1-10. As for Lincoln Southeast, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-3.
Lincoln High strolled past Lincoln Southeast in their previous meeting back in January of 2023 by a score of 53-34. The rematch might be a little tougher for Lincoln High since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
