The Clarksburg Coyotes entered their tilt with the Catoctin Cougars with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Clarksburg walked away with a 39-29 victory over Catoctin on Friday. Despite the win, that was the fewest points Clarksburg has scored all season.
Catoctin lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Grace Williams, who scored six points along with seven rebounds. Williams is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooke Williams, who scored eight points along with eight rebounds and five steals.
Even though they lost, Catoctin were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 22 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Clarksburg has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season. As for Catoctin, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-1.
Clarksburg will be playing in front of their home fans against Quince Orchard at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Quince Orchard focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 25 on Thursday. Catoctin won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Milford Mill Academy at 7:00 p.m. on December 30th. Milford Mill Academy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Maryland Rankings (they are ranked 152nd, while Catoctin is ranked 23rd).
