The Beach Bulldogs can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Saturday. They walked away with a 64-56 win over Groves. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
James Tisby was his usual excellent self, scoring 16 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayden Newton, who scored 18 points along with five rebounds.
Sidney Flaggs and Tyrone Chisholm certainly did their best on Saturday to avoid the loss. Flaggs scored 19 points along with seven rebounds and three steals, while Chisholm scored 16 points along with three steals. Flaggs is crushing the point category: he's posted at least 15 every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Xavier Kohn, who scored four points along with three steals.
Even though they lost, Groves smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Beach only pulled down ten offensive rebounds.
Beach's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 8-15. As for Groves, they now have a losing record at 11-12.
Beach and Long County will face off at 7:30 p.m. on February 6th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. One thing working in Long County's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last seven games. Groves' road trip will continue as they head out to face Savannah Christian at 7:30 p.m. on February 6th. One thing working in Groves' favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last 12 games.
