4A Region II District 10 recap October 29, 2013
Highland Park added to the longest winning streak in 4A Region II District 10 this week by beating Creekview, 49-24. The win marks seventh in a row for the the Scots.
Forney scaled the state rankings by moving to 719 from 768 this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Jackrabbits climbed the ranks as a result of beating North Forney 27-17.
Brooks Burgin threw for 248 yards and 3 touchdowns.
Burgin and Cole Feigl gave Highland Park a balanced attack through the air and ground last week. Burgin also contributed to the rushing game with 56 yards on the ground.
Fans will be thrilled by an exciting game in the secondary when Poteet's Kody Edwards goes up against the Falcons' Armani Watts.
Going into this week's contest against Newman Smith, lance Brownlee's team's Burgin needs 151 passing yards to surpass 2,000 on the season. So far this year, Burgin has thrown for 1,849 yards with 16 touchdowns and 3 interceptions.
Next week's game between the Pirates and North Forney will feature a good passing match up as Lane Novy will test his arm against Watts' defensive ability. Poteet's Novy has recorded 2,154 yards and 20 touchdowns this year, while Lance Gary's team's Watts has 8 interceptions to his name.
One of the league's premier quarterbacks will face off with its top pass rusher when Kody Groves' team and the Falcons face off next week.
An important game coming up in 4A Region II District 10 this week will be when North Forney takes on the Pirates. The Falcons are in fifth place, while Poteet is in first place.
Forney made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 7,656 from 8,371. The improvement was the result of a 27-17 victory over North Forney last week.
