The Eula Pirates will face off against the Bovina Mustangs at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Eula has eight straight victories, Bovina has eight straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Last Tuesday, Eula earned a 51-39 victory over Abilene Christian. Given Eula's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 120th, while Abilene Christian is ranked 1080th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Bovina was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Tuesday as they fell 59-53 to Whitharral.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Angel Lara, who scored 13 points. Miguel Lopez was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Their wins bumped Eula to 8-0 and Abilene Christian to 4-9.
