Montrose got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Brekin Hutto out in front who scored 13 points along with two steals. Kaleb Ferguson was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with 11 rebounds.
Several Warriors players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Camren Redding, who scored 18 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaine Thorton, who scored six points along with nine rebounds.
Montrose's victory bumped their record up to 13-3. As for Grand Junction Central, they dropped their record down to 9-9 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season.
Montrose will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. Fruita Monument presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Red Hawks in Colorado (the Wildcats are ranked fifth, while the Red Hawks are ranked 39th). Grand Junction Central will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on the Demons at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
