Softball Recap: Cherryville Now 7-1 over Last Eight Games

While Cherryville put up plenty of runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for Bessemer City. The Ironmen were the clear victors by a 16-0 margin over the Yellow Jackets. The Ironmen might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten contests by eight runs or more this season.

Alexis McSwain was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, five RBI, and one double. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Proctor, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2.

Cherryville was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .650. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Cherryville is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.5 runs over those games. As for Bessemer City, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-14.

Cherryville will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Yellow Jackets: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
