In what's become a running theme this season, the Buckeye Hawks gave their fans yet another huge victory on Thursday. They blew past Independence 67-9 at home. Winning may never get old, but Buckeye sure is getting used to it with their sixth in a row.
It was another big night for Amayah Leyva, who scored 33 points along with eight steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Tia Chapman, who scored 14 points along with seven steals.
Buckeye is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season. As for Independence, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-11.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Buckeye will challenge Washington at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Independence won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Glendale at 5:30 p.m. on January 19th. Glendale is on a three-game streak of home losses, Independence a three-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change.
