The East Panthers will head out on the road to square off against the Hutchinson-Central Tech Engineers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. East is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak.
Last Thursday, things could have been worse for East, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 72-53 loss to Health Sciences Charter. While losing is never fun, East can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 732nd, while Health Sciences Charter is ranked 82nd).
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Jussean Pearsall, who scored 20 points along with two steals. He is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last 13 games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Mysean Morrison, who almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine rebounds.
Meanwhile, Hutchinson-Central Tech took a serious blow against Health Sciences Charter on Tuesday, falling 78-44. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Hutchinson-Central Tech in their matchups with Health Sciences Charter: they've now lost four in a row.
East's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 4-13. As for Hutchinson-Central Tech, their loss dropped their record down to 5-3.
East might still be hurting after the 76-55 defeat they got from Hutchinson-Central Tech in their previous meeting back in January. Can East avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
