Tri has gone 7-1 against Morristown recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Tri Titans will face off against the Morristown Yellow Jackets at 7:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.
Tri took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They came out on top against Eastern Hancock by a score of 64-54.
The match pitted two dominant guards against one another in Jillian Chew and McKenzie Koch. Chew had a great game and posted 16 points in addition to eight boards and six assists. Meanwhile, Koch was balling out in the loss, putting up 29 points.
Meanwhile, Morristown entered their tilt with Indianapolis Lutheran on Thursday with five consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with six. They blew past the Saints 61-17. The Yellow Jackets have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 games by 21 points or more this season.
Morristown had a senior duo take command as Nevaeh Sanders went 8 of 17 en route to 20 points along with five rebounds and four steals and Nevaeh Cox went 8 for 12 on her way to 16 points and three steals. Sanders has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 16 times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Nelson, who put up nine points.
Morristown smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in three consecutive matchups.
Morristown has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 contests, which provided a massive bump to their 14-7 record this season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 33.1 points. As for Tri, their win bumped their record up to 16-7.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Tri has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 30.5 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Morristown struggles in that department as they've been averaging 29.2 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Everything came up roses for Tri against Morristown when the teams last played back in November of 2024, as the squad secured a 71-36 victory. In that game, Tri amassed a halftime lead of 40-13, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Tuesday.
