Baseball Recap: Pattonville Wins Going Away Against Ritenour

Pattonville owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Ritenour Huskies with a sharp 8-0 victory. Considering the Pirates have won seven contests by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Zayden Patel tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out seven over five innings pitched. He is becoming a predictor of Pattonville's success: when he allows at most two hits the team is undefeated (and 7-12 when he doesn't).

At the plate, Pattonville let Braylon Cook and Cameron Crumble run wild. Cook went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double, while Crumble got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Pattonville is undefeated when Crumble posts two or more runs, but 7-12 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Jace Robinson, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

The win snapped Pattonville's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 10-12 record. As for Ritenour, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last nine games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-12 record this season.

Pattonville will square off against McCluer North at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday. As for Ritenour, they will take on Mehlville at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
