Foothill hasn't had much luck against Johnson recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Mustangs are taking a road trip to square off against the Warriors at 4:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
On Wednesday, Foothill got the win against Burbank by a conclusive 17-2.

Foothill got a massive performance out of Oralis Vasquez Mendoza, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three stolen bases, and three runs. That's the most stolen bases Vasquez Mendoza has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Mercede Averett, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three stolen bases, and two runs.
They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Foothill lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Johnson, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They were the clear victors by an 18-2 margin over Florin on Wednesday. The victory continues a trend for the Warriors in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now won six in a row.
Leticia Gonzales and Kayla Madison made a big impact no matter where they played. Throwing, Gonzales tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Madison tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. At the plate, Gonzales earned two runs and three stolen bases, while Madison went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. That triple was Madison's first of the season.
In other batting news, Valicianna Collins-Hogan was a standout: she went a perfect 4-for-4 with five stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season. Naomi Quiroz was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple.
Johnson's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-3. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Foothill, their record now sits at 9-7.
Friday's match might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Foothill has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .526. However, it's not like Johnson struggles in that department as they've averaged .581. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Foothill suffered a grim 17-1 defeat to Johnson in their previous matchup back in March. Can the Mustangs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
