Two dominant guards in Nevaeh Ramos and Blythe Mcquade are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Ellenville Blue Devils will look to defend their home court on Thursday against the Spackenkill Spartans at 5:00 p.m. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses for Ellenville and five for Spackenkill.
Last Tuesday, Ellenville suffered a tough 51-26 loss at the hands of Onteora. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Ellenville has scored all season.
Meanwhile, Spackenkill was the victim of a tough 52-31 defeat at the hands of Saugerties on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, Spackenkill can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 417th, while Saugerties is ranked 143rd).
Despite the loss, Spackenkill got a solid performance out of Marlena Delaurentis, who scored eight points.
Ellenville's defeat was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-11. As for Spackenkill, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-9 record this season.
Ellenville came up short against Spackenkill when the teams last played two weeks ago, falling 59-48. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Mcquade, who scored 32 points along with five steals. Now that Ellenville knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? There's only one way to find out.
