This season hasn't been kind to the Bonita Springs Bullsharks, who are still winless after their fifth game. They were dealt a 79-41 defeat at the hands of Cypress Lake on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, Bonita Springs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 673rd, while Cypress Lake is ranked 112th).
Giordan Easely was his usual excellent self, scoring 26 points along with 7 assists and 5 rebounds for Cypress Lake. The matchup was Easely's fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Obang Ochan, who scored 17 points along with 6 steals.
Bonita Springs bumped their record down to 0-5 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road. As for Cypress Lake, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 5-0.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bonita Springs will square off against Riverdale at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Riverdale focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 32 on Tuesday. As for Cypress Lake, they will head out on the road to face off against First Baptist Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. First Baptist Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matches -- so hopefully Cypress Lake likes a good challenge.
