Parker Granse spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run allowed (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up 11 Ks. Those 11 strikeouts gave him a new career-high.
On the hitting side, Pensacola Catholic got a massive performance out of Colton Guillot, who scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. That's the most runs Guillot has posted since back in March of 2024. Gavin Howard was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 4-for-4.
Meanwhile, Gulf Breeze posted their biggest win since April 5, 2024 on Tuesday. They blew past Navarre 11-5.
Gulf Breeze also got a great performance from Cameron Hoeft as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over 4.2 innings pitched.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jake Hooten, who fired off three home runs, eight RBI, and four runs while going 4-for-4. Another player making a difference was Roman Jackson, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run and three runs.
Gulf Breeze was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Navarre only posted a batting average of .185.
Gulf Breeze now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Pensacola Catholic, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Pensacola Catholic has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Gulf Breeze struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.3 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Pensacola Catholic came up short against Gulf Breeze when the teams last played two weeks ago, falling 7-3. Can Pensacola Catholic avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
