The Wake Christian Academy Bulldogs will challenge the Ravenscroft Ravens at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Wake Christian Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.4 runs per game this season.
Wake Christian Academy took a loss when they played away from home last Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. The team relied heavily on Grayson Durrant, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and two doubles. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jeffrey Newsome, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two RBI and one double.
Meanwhile, Ravenscroft waltzed into their contest on Friday with four straight wins... but they left with five. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Hawks a 10-0 shutout. That's two games straight that the Ravens have won by exactly ten runs.
The result came thanks to Ethan Wagnon's shutout, as he gave up just two hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Jack Holt was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That triple was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Asa Turner, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Ravenscroft always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in five consecutive matchups.
Wake Christian Academy pushed their record up to 15-6 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Ravenscroft, their victory bumped their record up to 10-7.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Wake Christian Academy has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.9 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Ravenscroft struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.6 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Wake Christian Academy came up short against Ravenscroft in their previous meeting back in March, falling 6-1. Will the Bulldogs have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other baseball content.
