Basketball Recap: Fernley's Loss Ends Eight-Game Winning Streak on the Road

If Fernley was riding high fresh off their 67-47 takedown of Damonte Ranch last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Fernley Vaqueros fell just short of the Bishop Manogue Miners by a score of 46-44 on Friday. The Vaqueros' loss signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Despite the loss, Fernley still got an impressive performance from Taylor Tollestrup, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and ten boards. Tollestrup is also crushing it when it comes to blocks: she's posted at least three every time she's taken the court this season. Laura Rosales was another key player, putting up two points along with six rebounds and four steals.

Bishop Manogue got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Josie Williamson out in front who went 5 of 10 on her way to 16 points. Mia Hall was another key player, dropping a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds.

Fernley's defeat ended an eight-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 8-2. As for Bishop Manogue, their win was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-3.

Fernley wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 52-47 victory against Sierra on the 16th. As for Bishop Manogue, they will host Damonte Ranch at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Bishop Manogue is facing Damonte Ranch at the right time seeing as Damonte Ranch is stuck on a seven-game losing streak.
