The Portland Highlanders's 12-game losing streak came to an end on Thursday. Everything went their way against Cheney RVT as Portland made off with a 42-17 victory. Portland's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Cheney RVT's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Cristialis Carrasquillo, who scored five points along with seven steals and five rebounds. Ai'Lani Alvelo was another key contributor, scoring four points along with 12 rebounds.
Portland's win ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 1-9. As for Cheney RVT, they bumped their record down to 3-10 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road.
Portland won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against East Hampton at 7:00 p.m. on January 19th. East Hampton is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling. As for Cheney RVT, Cheney RVT and Goodwin Tech will face off at 5:30 p.m. on January 23rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Goodwin Tech comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 25 points in their last six games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
