The Florence Christian Eagles struggled with offensive rebounds on Friday (the Christian Academy Saints had 15 more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Florence Christian fell 56-43 to Christian Academy. While losing is never fun, Florence Christian can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 248th, while Christian Academy is ranked 96th).
Several Eagles players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Dylan Greene, who scored 13 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylor Greene, who scored 11 points.
Christian Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jack Green led the charge by dropping a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds. Another player making a difference was Ayden Leith, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds.
Florence Christian has not been sharp recently as the team's lost six of their last seven contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-15 record this season. As for Christian Academy, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 15-8.
Florence Christian will head out on the road to square off against King's Academy at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Florence Christian is coming into the game with seven straight defeats on the road, so King's Academy is out to stop a team with plenty of momentum. As for Christian Academy, they will be playing at home against St. James at 7:45 p.m. on Wednesday. St. James will roll in looking for their tenth straight victory, something Christian Academy surely won't give up without a fight.
