Baseball Game Preview: Warsaw Tigers vs. Mishawaka Cavemen

Warsaw and Mishawaka are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2017, but likely not for long. The Tigers will welcome the Cavemen at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

On Saturday, Warsaw got the win against South Bend Adams by a conclusive 14-4.

Warsaw let Wyatt Stapleton and Quinton Brock run wild. Stapleton went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs, while Brock went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most hits Brock has posted over his last 11 matches. Another player making a difference was Grady Nelson, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two RBI and one run.

Warsaw was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .407. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Meanwhile, Mishawaka had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. They were the clear victors by a 14-2 margin over the Eagles.

Warsaw's win bumped their record up to 9-6. As for Mishawaka, their victory bumped their record up to 11-4.

Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Monday. Warsaw hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.4 home runs per game. However, it's not like Mishawaka struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.4 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.

Warsaw couldn't quite finish off Mishawaka in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 and fell 2-0. Can the Tigers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
