John Carroll Catholic gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener  on Wednesday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Okeechobee Brahmans  an   8-0 shutout.  Brycen Payne looked comfortable as he  kept things locked down with   no  earned runs or hits over four innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave  him a new career-high in  strikeouts (three).
 On the hitting side,  the team  relied heavily on  Brennan Jones, who  scored a  run while  getting on base  in three of his four plate appearances.  Preston Sullivan was another key player,  scoring two  runs while going 2-for-4.
Okeechobee's loss was  their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which  dropped their record down to 0-2-1.
 Coming up, John Carroll Catholic will host Sebastian River  at 6:00  p.m.  on Friday. As for Okeechobee, they will take on Port St. Lucie at 3:30  p.m.  on Friday.
