Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for the North Salinas Vikings, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They were just a hair shy of victory on Friday and fell 21-20 to Leigh. The matchup was a 14-14 toss-up at halftime, but North Salinas was just barely outscored by Leigh in the second.
Kai Ceralde threw for 97 yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 97 yards and a touchdown. Bradley Moyer was his top target, picking up 48 receiving yards and a touchdown. On the ground, Justin Pascone rushed for 90 yards.
Leigh's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Shayan Shariat, who rushed for 84 yards and a touchdown. Ben Varnell did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 108 receiving yards and a touchdown.
North Salinas' loss dropped their record down to 7-4. As for Leigh, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season.
North Salinas does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Leigh will head out on the road to face off against Palo Alto at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
