The Anaconda Copperheads gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 61-40 margin over Stillwater Christian. This was payback for Anaconda, who suffered a 69-45 defeat the last time these two teams met.
Stillwater Christian's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Elijah Linn, who scored seven points along with ten rebounds. Linn also pulled down eight+ rebounds for the first time this season. Taylsen Pond was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with three steals.
Anaconda's victory bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Stillwater Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-2.
Anaconda will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Loyola-Sacred Heart at 4:00 p.m. on January 13, 2024. Stillwater Christian won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Florence-Carlton.
