There's no place like home for the Schaumburg Christian Conquerors, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road on Tuesday. They came out on top against North Shore Country Day by a score of 52-44 on Friday. Given Schaumburg Christian's advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 262nd, while North Shore Country Day is ranked 532nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Schaumburg Christian got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Carynton Hobson out in front who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Hobson has scored at least 25% of Schaumburg Christian's points. Another player making a difference was Candela Garcia, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 14 rebounds.
Schaumburg Christian's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-2. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.0 points per game. As for North Shore Country Day, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-5.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Schaumburg Christian will challenge Woodlands Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Woodlands Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Thursday. As for North Shore Country Day, they will head out on the road to face off against Payton College Prep at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
