King George is 9-1 against Eastern View since May of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Foxes will square off against the Cyclones. King George is coming into the contest hot, having won their last 13 games.
King George is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They had just enough and edged out Atlee 3-1. Three seems to be a good number for the Foxes as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.
Kelsea Minter spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on six hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances.
At the plate, King George saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Bella Intihar, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Eastern View, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They won by a run and slipped past Powhatan 2-1.
Eastern View also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Cailin Rendell gave up only one earned run on three hits and racked up 11 Ks.
Eastern View hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Powhatan struck out 11 times.
King George pushed their record up to 17-5 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs on average over those games. As for Eastern View, they are on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 15 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-3 record this season.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. King George has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.1 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Eastern View struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 13.6 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
King George came out on top in a nail-biter against Eastern View when the teams last played last Friday, sneaking past 3-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Foxes since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
