Katie Dzialo spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on four hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 23 consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Gina Coppola was incredible, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Makena Hawkins, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI.
Meanwhile, Brookfield made easy work of Bristol Eastern on Wednesday and carried off a 9-1 win. The Bobcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 15 matches by eight runs or more this season.
Sydney Miller made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Miller was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Addasyn Coutts, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Chloe Fitzgerald, who went 1-for-2 with one triple and two RBI.
Brookfield was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bristol Eastern only posted a batting average of .087.
Brookfield is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for St. Joseph, their win was their ninth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 22-3.
Friday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. St. Joseph hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .328. However, it's not like Brookfield struggles in that department as they've averaged .371. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
