McDowell is 9-1 against Erwin since January of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The McDowell Titans will head out on the road to square off against the Erwin Warriors at 8:00 p.m. McDowell knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past nine matches -- so hopefully Erwin likes a good challenge.
McDowell scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Wednesday. They blew past Asheville 90-51 on the road. That 39 points margin sets a new team best for McDowell this season.
Rylan Parkins was his usual excellent self, scoring 39 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Roby Franklin, who scored 13 points.
Meanwhile, Erwin's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They were dealt a 77-45 defeat at the hands of A.C. Reynolds. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Erwin has scored all season.
McDowell pushed their record up to 13-2 with that win, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 74.6 points per game. As for Erwin, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-9 record this season.
McDowell took their win against Erwin when the teams last played back in February of 2023 by a conclusive 84-60. Does McDowell have another victory up their sleeve, or will Erwin turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
