The Richland County Tigers lost against the Mattoon Greenwave back in November of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. Richland County took a 48-35 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Greenwave. Richland County has struggled against the Greenwave recently, as their match on Monday was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.
Several Tigers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Danielle Reagan Brown, who scored eight points along with eight rebounds and two steals. Reagan Brown is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Kyrstin Weiler, who scored 11 points along with two steals.
Richland County now has a losing record at 12-13. As for Mattoon, their win bumped their record up to 18-6.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Richland County won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against the Indians at 7:30 p.m. on January 30th. Lawrenceville will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings (they are ranked 517th, while the Tigers are ranked 243rd). As for Mattoon, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Braves at 7:00 p.m.
