Ironwood has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will take on The Willow Canyon Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
Ironwood fell victim to Desert Vista's stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They took a serious blow against the Thunder, falling 42-0.
Even if they lost, Ironwood's defensive line sure didn't make it easy: Desert Vista's QB was sacked three times before it was all said and done. Leading the way was Jax Forst and his two sacks.
Meanwhile, Willow Canyon's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their sixth straight loss. They were dealt a 49-7 loss at the hands of Apollo. While losing is never fun, Willow Canyon can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona football rankings (they are ranked 142nd, while Apollo is ranked 33rd).
Ironwood has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-6 record this season. As for Willow Canyon, their defeat was their sixth straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 1-7.
Ironwood was dealt a bruising 42-14 loss at the hands of Willow Canyon in their previous matchup back in November of 2022. Can Ironwood avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
